During the week of Easter I got to go to Marco Island with my family for a short spring break. It started off with a 17-hour car ride and ended with an unbelievable sunset from thousands of feet above the earth.
After a cramped car ride we made it to Naples, Florida, where we spent much of our time growing up. It's a couple of years since I've been back to Naples but nostalgia set in pretty quickly for how short of time we were there for. We caught a sunset that was blocked by dense clouds, but the sun peered out for a few glimpses during its descent.
From there we journeyed another 40 minutes to arrive in our end location, Marco Island. We spent a lot of time on the beach, colored and hunted for Easter eggs, celebrated Easter Mass at a sunrise beach service, and watched a lot of sunsets.
I've been grateful for the time that has past and the lesson I've learned in the importance of time with your family and I was lucky to get a lot of it over break.

Really enjoyed capturing and putting together this footage. I feel like I'm starting to get the hang of the camera. I hope you enjoy the sights and the sounds of the video.
Note: I have no idea who this girl is in the frame, it was the best of the thumbnails YouTube gave me. This may be her 15 seconds of fame.
Song: Miracles - Coldplay I do not own any rights to this song. Copyright to Coldplay through Parlophone Records and "Unbroken" the film.

Below begins photos from the window seat of the plane home as the sun set.
Here are some words I wrote as I watched it come down.
Layers of clouds later we break through to see the sun low over the horizon. Its every color imaginable. The deepest of reds to a blue that looks to break through the stratosphere. It lingers longer than any sunset seen with your two feet on the ground. It persists and pushes it's colors further out with its passing. The bright pink that remains after the sphere has left runs tall and high and slowly dissipates and diffuses outward upon the horizon line. The clouds skirt away but cling to their colors as if they don't want to let go. Nearly an hour after supposed sunset, the colors are spanned out as far as I can see on the horizon. It was now impossible to find the point where the sun had sank from view for each pocket of color carry the remnants of its brilliance. Stepping stones of clouds have given away to pinpricks of light that spring to life with every passing second. Below we are unsuspecting of the world.
From here, it is assuringly good.
Above: I've always fallen back on the saying, "Behind gray clouds there is always blue." And from here, the steel clouds look amazing.
Above: Unbelievable gradient. A living painting.
Above & Below: Veins of light and with it life.
Thanks for reading and following along. Hope you got some enjoyment out of it all.
