After flying into Keflavik Airport, we prepared for our journey around the island by passing through the capital city of Reykjavik. From there we headed south to the iconic waterfall of Seljalandsfoss. Click the link below to follow along.

Follow us on our only true sunny day of the trip, which made the day even more special. Visit the mighty Skogafoss, hike into the highlands, visit a historic mountain swimming pool, and see Dyrholaey and the black sand beaches. It's a full day.
We woke up in the parking lot of the DC Plane Wreck and immediately headed to the site. It was incredible. From there we traveled back to Vik, saw Reynisdrangar, the Fjadragliufur Canyon, and then to Vatnajokull National Park where we had some car trouble.
Waking up in a beautiful national park is a good way to start a birthday and Patrick got exactly that. We hiked to Svartifoss, then to a dwindling glacier, on to the glacier lagoon and Diamond Beach and finally to Hofn.
From Hofn we traveled to the photogenic Stokkness beach and Old Town. Then we made a long day of driving to Seyðisfjörður, a beautiful town tucked down in a valley at an inlet to ocean.
We left Seyðisfjörður and headed towards beautiful and sunny Lake Myvatn. Along the way we saw Dettifoss (Europe's most powerful waterfall), two volcanic craters, and a beautiful town situated on the shores of Lake Myvatn. See photos from this sunny day.
From Lake Myvatn, we drove to Godafoss, another beautiful and powerful waterfall. I hope you're not tired of waterfalls. It was then on to our favorite city, Akureyri.
Leave the fishing city of Akureyri for Hvitserkur, a beautiful rock formation along the coast. We'll then head to the incredible Snaefellsnes Peninsula, just above the capital city before heading to Reykjavik. It's a lot of driving, you ok with that?
This is a very short post as it is the day we traveled home. We awoke in the city of Reykjavik and were able to spend time exploring the city and all of its colorful streets before heading back to Keflavik and catching a flight back to the states. Enjoy this last post from the land of fire and ice.
